February 21, 1978 – became a paid professional fire fighter for the Billings Fire Department.
November 1980 – appointed to the Fire Prevention Bureau.
April 1982 – reassigned to suppression division due to manpower shortages.
August 28, 1989 – appointed to the Fire Prevention Bureau.
July 1, 1999 – Assistant Fire Marshal for the Billings Fire Department
June 30,2000; Appointed Fire Marshal City of Billings
February 6, 2002 – Retired as Fire Marshal

Achievements
+ Authored and worked with state legislators to pass bill that allows local governments to recover costs for fire investigative and suppression costs in cases of arson and also allows for the recovery of delinquent taxes on all fires.
+ Co-organized and established the city/county arson unit which combines the resources of area law enforcement and fire personnel thereby eliminating costly duplication of services and enhancing productivity of all agencies involved.
+ Taught Fire and Building code inspections to Billings and other Montana State Firefighters 1990 thru 2001.
+ Taught Fire Origin and Cause class at the North Dakota State Fire school (February 1994,1995, 1996 and March 1997)
+ Co-organizer in the rewrite of the Arson statute for the State of Montana (1995)
+ Co-organizer in the fire service area code enforcement laws in the State of Montana (1995)
+ Taught a class (Principles of Fire Investigation) at the Montana State University Fire TrainingSchool (February 1996)
